Restricting access to Security transactions

If you want to allow access to Registration for staff to register permanent and temporary patients, but not to access the Security transactions, as this allows them to deduct patients:

  1. From the Vision 3 front screen, select Management Tools - Control Panel - Security.
  2. You need to create two groups, a first group of users who can access everything in Registration, and a second group who can update records but cannot access Security transactions in Registration. To create groups - point to one of the groups, eg All Users, in the bottom left-hand pane and right click, Add Group, give it a name (4-10 characters) and description, then add each user relevant to the group.
  3. On the right-hand side under Vision Functions expand the Registration section.
  4. Right click on All users and Remove Group from Function. Right click again and add in the first group who are allowed to do everything.
  5. The second group should be able to update records in Registration, but not access Security Transactions.  First click on Read Only under Registration, to expand that section. Then right click on Update Patient Records and Add User to Function, or Add Group to Function, and add the second group you set up in step 2.
  6. Exit Security and you are asked to save changes, select Yes. For the restricted users this now blanks out Security in Registration, but they can still update and add patient details.
