What is Single Sign On (SSO)?

Single Sign On (SSO) is a way to log into your clinical system using a Smartcard inserted into a Smartcard reader at your workstation, see Working Online.

You are logged in according to the "role" on your Smartcard, this enables access to national services. Access to national services allows you access to:

  • Patient data on the national Spine

  • Update patient demographic details (PDS)

  • Use the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

  • Transfer records via GP2GP

  • Book electronic appointments via the e-Referral Service.
