Print Selected Parts of a Guideline and Data Grids

I have several guidelines of my own making, with headers, text lines and data grids and hot spots, but I can't seem to highlight any part of it to print - am I missing something?

There is an option to make filtered data items "selectable" - this means you can click on them which will highlight them, then you can use the Print Selected options to print only those items. In design mode, right click, choose Properties and check "selectable". It's not a good idea to make sub-headings selectable as that they don't then expand when you click on them individually (although expand all works).

However, this selection function doesn't apply to data grids, so in order to print them from your existing guideline you would have to print the whole guideline which would also include the command hot spots.

The advice is that if you construct a complex data entry guideline, make a "report version" of this, for example, the NSFCHD guideline is accompanied by another called NSFCHDR which has all the same sub-headings and patient data filters but none of the "input" lines or leaflets. This can then be used as on on-screen or printed report.

It's easy to do this as you just copy the original then delete the bits you don't want on your report. Data grids print on a WYSIWYG basis - ie the bigger the screen and the higher the resolution, the more you will see and the more will print.

You could create separate guidelines containing only the data grids you want to print. Or, for tests, you could use the standard ones that you get when you right click and select management plan on the test headings on the MRO Navigation Pane.  There is one "master" data grid for all tests, right click on Tests and select Management Plan. Then if you expand Tests, there is a heading for each test specialty, for example, Diagnostic Imaging, Biochemistry Routine, Biochemistry Hormones, Biochemistry Other, Haematology, Microbiology, Serology & Immunology, Other Path Tests and Diagnostic Tests and you can right click and select Management Plan at that level.

Then if you click on one of these headings again, you will find all the individual ones, for example, click on Biochemistry Routine to get list of U&Es, LFTs, Blood Glucose, Blood Lipids, Calcium and Bone Studies and Urine Chemistry Tests. You can display the Management Plan at any of these levels and simply click print. Or you can copy any of these, go to select guideline and type @ to list all the system management plans, then amend to your requirements.
