Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) Repeat Dispensing

Repeat dispensing (also known as Batch Prescribing) allows you to authorise multiple issues of a prescription at once. This means that the patient does not have to request an issue from the practice each time they need a refill of their prescription, they can go directly to the pharmacy.

Note - For EPS Repeat Dispensing items, the electronic message is the legal entity, not the paper token that is handed to the patient.

Repeat Dispensing:

  • Is only available to patients with a nominated dispensing contractor.

  • Issues do not print, but a printed token is produced which can be taken to any EPS enabled pharmacy in order to obtain the first and subsequent issues of medication.

Note - If the patient changes their nomination part way through a repeat dispensing cycle, all outstanding prescription issues are transferred to the new nominated dispensing contractor automatically.
