SNOMED CT

From 1st April 2018 the NHS starts the move to using Snomed CT as the clinical coding system across all care settings. Primary Care is being targeted as one of the first care settings to migrate. Vision are fully committed to providing the necessary functionality and tools to allow all users to be able to record and retrieve clinically coded data. Vision will be releasing Vision Anywhere for the desktop during 2017 and this will provide simple and easy data entry to allow recording of data without the need to understand the underlying clinical coding system. The system will use Snomed CT as the primary coding system and map the data to Read, thus ensuring all data is dual coded.

From DLM 520, Vision 3 dual codes all data, data being entered using Read and mapped to Snomed CT. In addition, all historic Read coded data is mapped to Snomed CT.

From April 2018 there will be additions to Snomed CT that will not be mapped to Read codes. These will be able to be recorded in Vision Anywhere, which will be fully Snomed CT compliant. Vision also provide a means to enter this data into the current Vision 3 Consultation Manager until practices have updated their systems to be using Vision Anywhere for their data entry, see Vision 3 Local Codes for details.

Our aim is that data entry using Vision Anywhere does not require knowledge of Snomed. Therefore training will focus on the use of Vision Anywhere and will continue to be provided by means of user assistance, eLearning and webinars as each release is delivered, keeping you fully informed of new functionality.
