Electronic MED3 Extract - England

For practices in England, Vision 3 sends MED3 data, extracted automatically, on a weekly basis via the Messaging Exchange for Social Care and Health (MESH) to NHS England and then forwarded to the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP).

Note - This data is completely anonymised and cannot be traced back to your patient.

A weekly extraction of relevant MED3 data items is scheduled, see Data Extracted for details.

The weekly extraction of relevant MED3 data items is scheduled for every Sunday between the hours of 12 noon and 11:59pm. The initial extraction includes all your recorded eMED3 data dating back to 1st December 2014, the next and all subsequent extractions contain data from the previous 7 days (Sunday 00.00am - Saturday 11.59pm) eMED3 data. If there has been no MED3 data during the week, a blank report is still sent.

Dissent and Withdrawal of Dissent for Extraction

To record a patient's dissent for MED3 data extraction, you must add a Medical History entry of 9Nu0.00 Dissent from secondary use of GP patient identifiable data to their record.

To record a patient's withdrawal of dissent (they are now agreeing the data can be extracted), you must add a Medical History entry of 9Nu1.00 Withdraw dissent from secondary use of GP patient to their record.
