CHADS2-VASc - AF Stroke Risk Calculator

The CHADS2-VASc - AF Stroke Risk Calculator evaluates ischaemic stroke risk in patients with Atrial Fibrillation. The patient is allocated points based on their previous medical history in the following areas:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Hypertension
  • Age (Over 75 years)
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Strokes or TIA
  • Vascular Disease
  • Age (65 to 74 years)
  • Sex Category

The CHA2DS2-VASc risk score is calculated using the following data:

Accessing the CHADS2-VASc - AF Stroke Risk Calculator

  1. From Consultation Manager, select Vision+ from the floating toolbar and select Calculators - Cardiovascular - CHA2DS2-VASc.

  2. The CHADS2-VASc - AF Stroke Risk Calculator displays:

    • Select Add Data to add/update any missing patient data.
    • Select History to view historical data.
    • To demonstrate a 'What If' scenario select Predicted . Remember, if you decide to record the score you must select Reset .

  3. The Clinical Term, Score and Event Date automatically display at the base of the screen.
  4. Select OK to record the clinical term and score or select OK & Attach to record both the clinical term and the attachment:

  6. To view an attachment, from patient's record, right click on the attachment entry and select View Attachment. The attachment displays as a PDF:
