Selecting and Downloading Patients
The patient search facility allows you to search for all patients registered at your practice, you must be online to do this.
- From the Home screen tap the Search button.
- Enter the first few letters of the patient surname and optionally part of the forename, then press search on your keypad.
You can also search for patients using the following criteria:
- Surname
- Surname and forename, for example smi cli.
- Surname and year of birth, for example smi 1957
- Date of birth
- NHS Number or CHI Number
Matching patients display along with their date of birth, gender and NHS/CHI number.
- Tap the patient name to open the patient record.Note - If you want to download the patient to your device see - Download Patients. Patients listed in the Appointments Today screen are automatically downloaded to your device when you have an internet connection.
- The Patient Summary screen displays. See - Viewing a Patient Record.
Following the implementation of new web services for Vision Anywhere version 3.0, in the event of the Vision system being unavailable, patient records cannot be accessed unless previously downloaded.
If your practice system is offline, the following message displays when trying to access a patient:
“Sorry we are currently unable to access the patient’s medical record. Make sure your device is connected to the internet”
This message will be modified in a later release to reflect the exact issue.
The Vision Anywhere Home screen automatically displays your next booked appointment and a link to appointments booked for today. When there is an active internet connection, patient records for today's appointments automatically download to your device for offline use.

Your next appointment displays with the booked time and a count down.
The map button displays where the patient lives.
Tap the patient's name to open their record.
Appointments
- Tap the Appointments Today > tile to display the Appointments list.
- Tap the patient's name to open the Patient Summary view.
- Swipe the screen to view appointments for 7 days either side of today.
To save a patient to your device then you can access their record when you don't have an Internet connection:
- From the Home screen tap the Search button.
- Enter your patient's name.
- Press search on your keypad.
The results display. - Long press on the patient's name and select Download.
The patient record is now accessible offline from the Downloaded Patients tile on the Vision Anywhere Home screen.
Remember - Patients listed in the Appointments Today screen automatically download to your device when you have an internet connection.Note - Patients are automatically removed from the device after 72 hours.
If an encounter has been opened this will be automatically deleted after 30 days if you have not logged into the app when connected to the internet or if you forget your password.
Any open encounters are saved on your device and not available from any other setting.
When you sign into Vision Anywhere and have an active internet connection, any patients who have appointments in your chosen book today automatically download.
When viewing the Appointments list, a circle displays next to the patient record currently downloading.
Any record not yet downloaded displays the cloud symbol.

The Home screen also displays a count of open encounters.
