Adding Drug Defaults to an Item within a Tag

Once an item is added to a tag, you can add dosage defaults.

To add dosage defaults:

  1. From the Formulary, select the Tags (n), and the Tags List displays.

  2. Double click on the tag you wish to update the drug defaults for.
    The tag displays, along with all associated item.

  3. Double click on the item you wish to set defaults for, and the Drug default screen displays.

    Complete as required:

    • Dosage

    • Quantity

    • Notes to patient - This section is for future development, any notes entered here are not currently imported into the clinical system.

    • Dosage duration - Enter the default number of treatment days

    • Add Gemscript defaults - Alternatively, if available, select to set Gemscript defaults as the Tag default for this item

    Remember - When prescribing, an item is populated with the default you set here, but these can be updated at the time as appropriate.
  4. Select Save and you return to the Tag list.

    Items with a default display a Drug default symbol:

    Training Tip - An item can have both DM+D and Tag defaults, if this is the case, when you select the item from the Tag, the Tag default is applied, when you select from the drug list the DM+D default is applied.
Training Tip - Remember to review your Tags, items and item defaults on a regular basis to remove discontinued items and reflect newly available or updated items.
