Smoking Pack Years Calculator

The Smoking Pack Years Calculator is used to produce a numerical value of lifetime tobacco exposure called pack years. A pack year is equivalent to smoking one pack per day for one year.

Accessing the Smoking Pack Years Calculator

  1. From Consultation Manager, select Vision+ from the floating toolbar and select Calculators - Lifestyle - Pack Years:

  2. The Smoking Pack Years Calculator displays:

  3. Enter the quantities and time scale for each types of tobacco smoked:

  4. Select Calculate to calculate the pack years score or select Reset to clear the calculator.

  5. The Clinical term, Event Date and Score display at the base of the screen.
  6. Select OK to record the data or OK and Attach to also record the calculator.
  7. The score is recorded as part of the Scoring Test Result Area:
