Bulk Transfer

Transfer options within Registration allow four different scenarios for the bulk transfer of patients in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In Scotland, there are only two options of reallocation between either registered or usual GP.

Important - Before you run a bulk transfer which reallocates patients, for example, if a partner retires, run any target reports, because you cannot run these retrospectively in order to find patients registered with a retired GP.
  • Partnership Reallocation - Reg GP - Transfers patients between registered GPs in the same partnership in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This provides the ability to even out a GP list size within the partnership. The patients' acceptance dates are not modified, see Partnership Reallocation - Registered GP for details.
  • Partnership Reallocation - Usual GP - Transfers all active patients or a group from one usual GP to another in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, see Partnership Reallocation - Usual GP for details.
  • Bulk Transfer via TP Download - This downloads data containing patient registration details from the TP where the transfer involves patients transferred from other practices. This can be used by practices in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, see Bulk Transfer via TP Download for details.
  • Bulk Transfer - deduct patients - The deduction of patients from a GP's list is required because it involves patients transferred from this practice to a GP not on the same GP system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, see Bulk Transfer - Deduct Patients for details.

You must maintain close liaison with your TP/HB/CSA, each transfer screen has either a date or tick box to confirm that your TP/HB/CSA has given approval for the transfer.
