Replying to a Message

Training Tip - You must select Scotland as your country and a valid Health Board when you log in to Vision Anywhere to access SCI Gateway options, see Logging In & Single Sign On (SSO) for details if required.

You can reply to any of the following message types from SCI Gateway:

  • Advice Dialogues

  • Emergency Dialogue

You can reply to a message in SCI Gateway in one of two ways:

  • Patient Context where you select the patient in Vision Anywhere first.

  • Practice Context where you do not select the patient in Vision Anywhere first.

Select a context below to expand the details:

To reply to a message in patient context:

  1. From Vision Anywhere, select the patient required in the usual way, see Selecting a Patient for details if required.

  2. From the Vision Anywhere Navigation bar, select EXTERNAL SERVICES - SCI Gateway.

  3. The Welcome to SCI Gateway screen displays with the selected patient's details just above the SCI News section. From the available list, select Messages - Advice Dialogue.

  4. The Advice Dialogue Work List screen displays, select the message required and it opens in a separate browser screen, select Reply.

  5. Enter your reply.

    Training Tip - Mandatory areas display in pink on each tab. For more information on referral options please access Help from within the SCI Gateway.

  6. Select Send.

  7. The 'The message has been saved' screen displays, select Yes to confirm all details are correct. If in doubt, select No and check the referral.

    The 'Saving advice dialogue message to an encounter, please wait' message displays. Once saved, this updates to 'Advice Dialogue successfully saved', and your Advice Dialogue Work List displays containing the message you have replied to.

    Training Tip - You can select any advice dialogue from here to display the Advice Dialogue screen within a separate browser screen.

  8. From the SCI Gateway Welcome screen, select Sign Out.

  9. Finally, select the Back Arrow to return to the patient record.

To view the Advice Dialogue added via SCI Gateway, select the patient in the usual way, see Selecting a Patient for details if required and the referral displays and can be accessed from the following:

  • Patient Summary in the Encounter section.

    Training Tip - Select Encounter to view the All encounter screen.

  • Patient Summary in the Recent Correspondence section.

    Training Tip - Select Recent Correspondence to view the Correspondence screen.

To reply to a message in practice context:

  1. From the Vision Anywhere Navigation bar, without selecting a patient, select EXTERNAL SERVICES - SCI Gateway.

  2. The Welcome to SCI Gateway screen displays with a summary of your messages and draft messages just above the SCI News section. From the available list, select Messages - Advice Dialogue.

  3. The Advice Dialogue Work List screen displays, select the message required and it opens in a separate browser screen, select Reply.

  4. Enter your reply and select Send.

  5. The 'The message has been saved' screen displays, select Yes to confirm all details are correct. If in doubt, select No and check the referral.

  6. From the SCI Gateway Welcome screen, select Sign Out.

  7. Finally, select the Back Arrow to return to the patient record.

  • Patient Summary in the Encounter section.
